Time to grind

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

Hello, blog. Long time no post…

…2008 continues to be a tumultuous, topsy-turvy kind of year. Relationships, finances, living arrangements, and more besides, thrown up in the air like a “game” of Fifty-Two Pick Up. Picking the cards off the floor and putting them back in the proper order is taking up way more time than I’d like.

Plus, I’m getting a kicking at the tables, and there’s no-one to blame for that but myself. While I know what I should be doing, I seem to be having trouble actually doing it; I’m having huge difficulty cashing, probably because I seem to be making a slew of bad calls.

Basically, I’m tilting. And as ever, when I tilt, I play less, which is very definitely not the thing to do in my current financial situation. So, it’s time for a change in approach, and I’m afraid that means… oh god, no…

Single Table Tournaments!

Yeah, pity me. I started my career playing these things, and I gave them up for a reason; they’re stifling, tedious, mechanical affairs that manage to suck all the fun and skill out of the game. On the other hand, I need money more than I need fun at the moment, and while tedious, stifling, mechanical poker isn’t my idea of entertainment, it’s far more likely to swell the coffers in the short-term.

SIGH.
